Job Title: Resource Coordinator, Via Hope Program
Organization: Mental Health America of Texas
Reports to: Program Director, Via Hope
Percentage Time: 1 FTE

General Description: The Via Hope Resource Coordinator shall develop a database of mental health resources for consumers, family members, youth consumers, and professionals; provide information and technical assistance to the public through phone and email requests; develop and post content for the Via Hope and related websites; maintain a training calendar; and participate on the Via Hope project team with staff from Mental Health America of Texas and from National Alliance on Mental Illness Texas. The Via Hope Program is a collaborative effort between Mental Health America of Texas and National Alliance on Mental Illness Texas to implement a statewide mental health consumer and family member training and technical assistance center.

Responsibilities:

  • Researches mental health resources available on a statewide and/or local basis and enters this information in a database for internal and public reference.
  • Responds to telephone requests for information and technical assistance by asking appropriate questions, identify local referral sources as appropriate, and providing necessary information to callers.
  • Responds to email requests for information and technical assistance by identifying state and/or local referral sources as appropriate, and providing necessary information.
  • Collects and posts mental health trainings on electronic calendar.
  • Collects, organizes, analyzes, and prepares material in response to requests for information and reports.
  • Completes relevant portion of monthly Via Hope performance reports.
  • May speak to community and professional groups on request from supervisor to heighten awareness of Via Hope.
  • Contacts public and private agencies involved with Via Hope to gather information for future referrals, respond to requests for technical assistance, and identify training opportunities.
  • Prepares administrative reports, studies and specialized research projects on request from supervisor.
  • Works as a team member on Via Hope activities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors level degree and a minimum 1 year professional experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; ability to gather, assemble, correlate and analyze facts; ability to devise solutions to problems.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal laws related to the program area.
  • Knowledge of state and local mental health resources.
  • Program planning skills.
  • Working knowledge of standard office software.
  • Experience with database software preferable.
  • Familiarity with web design preferable.
