One in 4 adults and 1 in 5 children in Texas struggles with a diagnosable mental condition. The sad fact is, Texas ranks last among all states in per capita funding for public mental health care.

Your support makes a powerful difference in people’s lives by supporting our advocacy and education initiatives throughout the state. There are a number of ways to give.

Wills, Estate & Charitable Trusts

You can help the next generation of Texans by making a gift to Mental Health America of Texas in your will or estate plan. Contact us for more information.

Gifts of Stock

A gift of stock or mutual funds could be your best way to maximize tax savings and meet your charitable giving goals. Giving a gift of publicly traded stock may provide greater tax benefits than giving cash. Your charitable income tax deduction is equal to the fair market value of the stock and you avoid paying the capital gains tax. You may also save by not incurring brokerage fees because you are transferring ownership rather than selling the stock. Your broker can assist you in making a gift of stock via a direct transfer to Mental Health America of Texas. Please remind your broker to include your name, contact information, and any special instructions for use of the gift with your transfer.

Hold an Event

Third party events provide much needed support for MHA Texas and they also raise awareness around the work we do and mental illness and wellness.  Throw a party, organize a run or bowling tournament or just about any kind of event you can imagine.  If you are planning to hold a fundraising event for Mental Health America of Texas, let us know by using this form.

Give Where You Work

Workplace giving programs allow your contributions to be deducted directly from your paycheck and with matching gifts programs, companies match donations you make to charitable organizations.

Many corporations and organizations will match their employees’ contributions to nonprofit organizations like Mental Health America of Texas, doubling the impact of your support. This additional support allows us to provide even more programs and services to improve mental health for Texans. Ask your company if they have a matching gifts program.
